Winter 2024

Greetings and Warm Winter Wishes from the Keeper of the Keys. January in the library brought a close to the Fall Session of HiC. Students produced excellent work and shared remarkable presentations.  The spring session awaits another group of students, who will be working on their creative writing skills and producing plays and short stories. Classroom lessons revolve around library organization, copyright and plagiarism, fractured fairy tales, and animals and their habitats.

December 2023

Greetings from the Keeper of the Keys.  December in the Ashaway Library means Hour of Code. The Hour of Code takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week, and is designed to teach students that computer science is accessible, fun and creative.  Computer coding enhances problem-solving skills, logic and creativity. Students who experience computer science in the early grades are more likely to choose computer courses in high school and college.  Enjoy coding! Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Feliz Navidad, Kwanzaa Happiness, Magnificent Diwali, Happy Winter Solstice, Xin Nian yu kuai, and Happy New Year!

Fall 2023

Greetings from the Keeper of the Keys. Library classes got off to a strong start, with library book care and circulation units for kindergarten and first grade, and internet safety studies for second through fourth graders, September brought the Book Fair.  Thank you to all Ashaway families for your support and generosity.

Students wrote Thank You Letters to Mrs. Field, Director of the Ashaway Free Library for her generous donation, which enabled us to buy new books for the library this year.
